    Air source heat pumps are an efficient alternative source for heating your home. An air source heat pump works similarly to an air conditioning unit, however, a heat pump has a reversing valve that allows it to heat your home. A heat pump draws in air from outdoors, before pumping it over the external heat exchange surface of the pump. This causes refrigerant liquid to become warm and evaporate, turning into a gas. This gas is then compressed, causing its temperature to rise before being passed over the internal heat exchange. This warm air can then be transferred into your home.
